Definitions:
Bank: One row of tabs in consecutive order. Example: If you order 200 sets of 10 tabs, 1/5 cut, and your titles are numbers 1-10, numbers 1-5 will make up the first bank; numbers 6-10 will make up the second bank.

Tab: The extended portion of the sheet usually covered with protective clear or colored Mylar.
Set: The entire grouping of tabs. In the above example, numbers 1-10 make up an entire set. The total number of banks make up a set.
Cut: The length of the tab. For long titles, larger cuts are advised so the words fit comfortably on the tab.
Position: The place where the tab falls in a bank. For example, the tab title with the number 3 in the example would fall in the third position in the first bank of 5.
Mylar®: A registered trademark of DuPont. There are two types. The first is the coating placed on the tab itself to protect the tab from wear and tear. The Mylar can be clear or colored. The second type is the strip placed on the back edge of the paper where the holes are drilled. This is a reinforcement of the paper to ensure the page does not rip from constant use in a binder. This type of Mylar is always clear.
Tab Extension: The measurement of how far the tab extends from the page.
Helpful Information:
1. We price by the number of sets, not the number of sheets. Also, it does not matter what cut you have in your order, as long as they are all the same size. If you want 10 tabs per set, you may have one bank of 10, or two banks of 5.
2. A 1/2” extension (the most common) can accommodate 3 lines of type. A 3/8” extension can accommodate 2 lines; a 1/4” extension 1 line of type. Please specify if your titles may go on 2 or 3 lines, and if we may abbreviate if necessary.
3.
If you place numbers in front of titles to indicate position on a written order, let us know if the numbers are supposed to print on the tab.
4. Please indicate if you prefer all CAPITAL LETTERS, all lower case, or a Combination.
5. We will choose the proper typestyle and size for your order (if the order calls for many tabs in a bank, or a lot of copy on a tab, the type must be set small in order to fit).
6. Customer supplied type involves a slight additional charge.
7. If you send a sample with your order we will match the typestyle as closely as possible.
